Week 3 reflections
In our third week of TELL class, we began by exploring various tools that facilitate learning and teaching. Our teacher introduced us to Tricider, a brainstorming tool that enables users to generate ideas and engage in discussions. To use Tricider, we need to visit their website, pose a question, and add a brief description. We can then share the link with others and encourage them to contribute their thoughts. The discussion remains open for 14 days, allowing participants to share their views and perspectives.
In our next class, we discovered six more valuable tools. IPA Typewriter is a unique keyboard that allows us to type phonemes, while Photransedit helps us confirm the exact phonemic transcription of words. Phonetizer is another tool that offers phonemic transcription capabilities, with features like British and American versions, as well as audio playback options.
We also explored Breaking News English, a website that aggregates current news articles from various sources. Lingro is a helpful tool for language learners, as it allows us to paste a website URL and instantly access definitions for unfamiliar words. Unlike other websites, Lingro doesn't distract us with hyperlinks, making it an ideal resource for focused learning.
Finally, we learned about Cloze Test Creator, a website that enables us to create interactive gap-fill tests. By pasting a text into the website, we can remove specific words, articles, or prepositions to create a customized test. This tool is particularly useful for creating online assessments and quizzes.
